The central purposes of the Company
emulate the evolution of the original purposes of the Livery
Companies and Guilds; namely fellowship, charity, education and
the promotion of trades and professions.

|
|
| |
Fellowship.
The Company will provide a forum for like-minded professionals
and act as a spiritual home for its members and be a focal point
for participation in the City’s ancient traditions. The importance
of this function transcends personal and professional networking
and development opportunities within the comradeship it fosters,
acting as the driver behind the Company’s important charitable
and educational works. The Young Members Group ensures that the needs and aspirations of the Associates and Student are taken into account.

Charity.
The Company raises considerable funds for charitable works including
the Lord Mayor of London’s appeal and schemes that benefit young
people in the immediate area of the City and other historic
charitable works of the City of London Liveries and Guilds.
In particular, the Company collaborates with the Corporation of
London in support of the Business Traineeship Programme, which
is managed by the Brokerage Citylink. Company members and their
firms provide paid work placements in the financial sector to
talented young people from local boroughs, many of which would
not normally have the opportunity to pursue such career ambitions.
The aim is to provide those sponsored with the means to acquire
the skills and qualities needed to secure long-term employment
in the City.

|
| |
|
|
| |
Education.
The Company maintains strong links with a number of finance-orientated
faculties, including the Sir John Cass Business School, Durham University Business School, Kings College London, the IFS School of Finance and Loughborough University. It is also continuing
to foster relationships with other faculties such as the City
of London School’s for Boys and Girls to sponsor scholarships.
In association with a number of educational partners, Company
members and their firms offer opportunities for short-term work
placements and educational workshop programmes. These workshops
provide students from sixth form and above with an introduction
to the City and further experience of the working practices
and skills of the banking and financial services industry.

Promotion
of the Profession. Membership is open to all financial
services professionals working within the City of London and
overseas membership is available for the international financial
community. Whilst this encompasses individuals with a broad
range of skills and services, their ethical and professional
values are similar and meet the same high standards. The multi-disciplinary
scope of its membership, albeit within the same financial community,
together with the depth of experience of its senior members,
enables the Company to provide a useful window on the full range
of professional viewpoints and to uphold and promote both the
City’s interests and the high standards that underpin its traditional
ethos.
